BSGD

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN SOFTWARE & GAME DEVELOPMENT

IF YOU’RE TALENTED, CREATIVE, AND HAVE A PASSION FOR GAMING THAT GOES BEYOND THE OCCASIONAL MINECRAFT BINGE, NEUMONT’S BSGD PROGRAM IS FOR YOU.

If you think a love of video games is enough to get by in the demanding world of game development, you’re going to end up disappointed. You need to have the technical and creative chops to build a world others can get lost in.

WHO IS THE SOFTWARE & GAME DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR?

For the game enthusiast with the intellectual RAM and creativity to master everything from story boarding, to particle engines (realistic blood splatters), to building life-like enemies. You'll need a creative edge, an aptitude for physics and math, and an analytical mind because we all know that a truly satisfying headshot requires a symphony of design, interaction, and story.

FOCUS OF THE SOFTWARE & GAME DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

In the BSGD program, you'll learn all aspects of game development for PCs and handhelds, including programming, game engine systems, game design, and project management. You'll also take courses that will give you the skills to work in software development in any industry–not just the hyper-competitive game industry. If you want the option to work in either game or software development, then this is the program for you. With courses in Java, .NET, C#, C++, and more, you'll be prepared to tackle any software challenge.

INTRODUCTORY PROJECTS

You will learn the basics of computer science as you explore each degree program in your first academic year. In classes like Java, you will work in small project teams mastering the basic foundations of modern operating systems, game development, and libraries.

DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS

Delve into game engines, physics, computer graphics, and mobile development. In your ninth quarter, you'll present a Capstone Project to your professors and peers demonstrating your competency of core principles from your program.

ENTERPRISE PROJECTS

Spend up to 20 hours a week participating on a project team making deployable games in a real project environment with a real company.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE GAME STUDIO

Neumont Game Studio is our very own internal video game production studio. Students from the BSGD degree program are partnered into small groups to produce a deployable game over a 10-week project course, working 20 hours a week. This gives students an excellent opportunity to build on their teamwork, storyboard, and dev skills to ready them for a career in the hyper-competitive game industry.

Your goal as the player is to battle your way through math tutors, choir, band students, and homework to avoid mandatory summer school. From attending classes to socializing with classmates and even dealing with teachers and assignments, this game includes a multitude of student life perspectives. Choose to relive your school days or experience something entirely new.
