Aaron Reed, Ed.D., Ph.D.

President & CEO

After working for a decade in the software development industry, Aaron joined Neumont College of Computer Science in 2004 as a faculty member focused on Microsoft development technologies. At Neumont, Aaron found the intersection of two of his passions: technology and education. In the academic world, Aaron has experience as a computer science professor, university relations director, chief academic officer, and chief operating officer.

Aaron has experience designing and teaching dozens of college-level courses in subjects ranging from software development (in C#, Python, C++, and Java) to project management, software architecture, communication, and personal/professional development. Aaron architected Neumont’s renowned Enterprise Projects program, a team-based collaborative project program where students work on projects for leading employers such as eBay, IBM, and Oracle. That program has successfully launched high-quality tech projects with hundreds of employers across the country.

Prior to joining Neumont, Aaron worked in the software development industry as a Software Architect and Vice President of Development at various organizations. He has also served as a technical expert patent consultant for Google and as an artificial intelligence consultant focused on training and evaluating generative AI.

Aaron is the sole author of three textbooks that have been used at dozens of universities worldwide: Learning XNA 3.0 (O’Reilly Media), Learning XNA 4.0 (O’Reilly Media), and Introductory Python (International University of Applied Sciences). He authored various articles on technical and education-related topics and has presented at code camps, code expos, and conferences. He has also served as a board member for the Utah Women Technology Council.

Aaron has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Weber State University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Neumont, a Master’s in Computer Science with an emphasis on Interactive Intelligence from Georgia Tech, a Doctorate in Education from Texas Tech University, and a PhD in Computer Science from Auburn University.

Although Aaron is not a fan of F’s in the classroom, outside the classroom he lives for three big F’s: Faith, Family, and Football.
